The Accountability Incubator is the Lab’s flagship program for young civil society leaders to build sustainable, effective tools for accountability, participation and social impact in their societies. Selected ‘accountapreneurs’ undergo an accelerated one-year program with hands-on, comprehensive support for their ideas and initiatives.
The Incubator provides mentorship, fundraising and management support, and access to a global network of leading institutions, foundations and donors. The overall objective of the Incubator is to support individuals to strengthen accountability and support better governance in their countries at a local and/or national level.
Accountability Lab supports individuals and ventures working to promote accountability in their communities throughout and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The virtual incubator grows youth lead initiatives tackling issues of transparency, citizen engagement, and anti-corruption work in Kenya and Uganda. We don’t mind whether you have a for-profit, non-profit, hybrid or yet-to-be decided organization, as long as the core mission is to support accountability, the Accountability Lab, and our partners encourage you to participate.
Accountability Lab does not charge or take any equity and it is absolutely free to join the program upon selection. Instead, we invest in our accountapreneurs by providing you with the time and space to be able to grow your ideas and ventures further. We do ask that participants remain committed to the program.
The Virtual Accountability Incubator is being specifically designed for Kenya and Uganda and is a response to the Covid-19 situation.
The Accountability Incubator is our flagship program for young change makers to build sustainable, effective tools for accountability, participation and open government. The Accountability Incubator provides a non-prescriptive, yet supportive environment for creative, enterprising individuals who bring innovative ideas to inspire accountability in their communities.
Selected “accountapreneurs” receive six months of hands-on, comprehensive support including: training and knowledge-building, mentoring, network building, and media outreach support. All delivered virtually.
