UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The UN Security Council Resolution 1325, unanimously adopted in October 2000, stressed the importance of equal participation and full involvement of women in all efforts of maintaining and promoting peace and security. The Government of Uganda has been implementing the resolution through National Action Plans since 2008. 2021 marked the launch of Uganda’s 3rd National Action Plan (NAP) on Women Peace and Security (WPS). The NAP provides a framework for the implementation of UNSCR 1325, it outlines the roles and responsibilities of government, civil society and development partners, and provides indicators for measuring progress via the UNSCR 1325 Civil Society Taskforce. UN Women provides technical and financial support to Government and civil society to develop and implement NAPs. Reporting to the Women, Peace and Security Analyst, the Administrative Associate supports the Office Operations by performing a variety of standard administrative processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. The Administrative Associate promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach. The Administrative Associate works in close collaboration with the Operations, Programme and projects staff team to ensure consistent service delivery and to resolve complex administration related issues and information delivery.
