General Position Summary

The Data Management Officer is responsible for ensuring accuracy and consistency of data on each program study

Jobs Responsibilities

  •  Develops and modifies study databases.
  •  Performs logistical and personnel needs assessment for department.
  •  Develops programs for data inconsistency and validation checks (both between files and within files).
  •  Determine fiscal requirements for office and prepare budgetary recommendations.
  •  Acquire full knowledge of all Rakai Health Sciences Program studies and/or services (to aid data management.
  •  Offer guidance and responses to queries from interviewers and study coordinators on field linkages and all field related trouble shooting.
  •  Assist study field coordination offices in scheduling appointments as well as informing when the window periods are expiring.
  •  Sets up and monitors the filing, storage, login and logout systems of participant records.
  •  In consultation with the supervisor, plan and conduct regular staff meetings with data staff to review department performance.
  •  Plan adequate work for the Data staff and ensure their full utilization.
  •  Provide on Job training and technical advice and support to Data Entry Clerks and Records Officers
  •  In conjunction with the supervisor, participates in the development of standardized data capture forms helping to assign appropriate and uniform variable names.
  •  Requesting and receiving requests from logistics department.
  •  Reports to the field coordinators errors found on administered forms that would help with training and retraining of the field teams.
  •  Ensure safe custody of all RHSP assets designated to the Data Management Officer
  •  Any other official duty as may be assigned by management.

Knowledge and Experience

  •  A first-class or second upper bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Demography or Mathematics or another related field.
  •  Minimum of 2 years professional work experience in data management in a busy health setting with a major role of preparing activity reports and accountabilities.
  •  To qualify to work with RHSP, one must own a degree of integrity with reasonable work ethics.
  •  Willingness to work in rural areas and execute work with minimal or no supervision and remain accountable.
  •  Demonstrable knowledge in Data Management, Research& Quality Assurance.
  •  Advanced computer skills in STATA or R, MS Excel and MS Access.
