POSITION: Head Investments
GRADE: Head of Department
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer
DIRECT REPORTS:
i. Manager Investments (Front Office).
ii. Manager Investments (Middle Office).
JOB PURPOSE:
Direct all aspects of the Fund’s investment programs including research, evaluation and selection of investment vehicles and aligning investment selections with the Fund’s goals and risk tolerance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Modelling and valuation of investment opportunities.
- Managing of portfolio risks.
- Monitoring of portfolio to execute value creation plans.
- Develop professionally written policies and procedure proposals that clearly articulate the Fund’s value proposition.
DUTIES:
- Carry out research to inform financial forecasting, decision making, or valuation.
- Evaluate the potential of new product developments or market opportunities, according to factors such as business plans, technologies, or market potential.
- Monitor regulatory or tax law changes to ensure fund compliance or to capitalize on development opportunities.
- Ensure that all investment compliance regulations are met.
- Attend investment briefings or consult financial media to stay abreast of relevant investment markets.
- Develop investment policy for the Fund aligned to the Fund’s strategy.
- Implement a Fund Management IT system.
- Manage investment funds to in line with the Fund’s objectives.
- Select specific investments or investment mixes for purchase by the Fund.
- Monitor financial or operational performance of individual investments to ensure portfolios meet risk goals through conducting research on the industry and gather intelligence to enhance management of funds.
- Develop or implement fund investment policies or strategies and select or direct the execution of trades.
- Present investment information, such as product risks, fees, or fund performance statistics to the Board and Management.
- Develop, implement, or monitor security valuation policies.
- Verify regulatory compliance of transaction reporting.
- Perform financial due diligence and analysis on prospective investments and recommend an investment decision.
- Implements decisions on the investment management policy of the Deposit Insurance Fund assets, decisions concerning placement of assets, and keeps records of the level and structure of the Fund’s portfolio.
- Analyze Fund accounts and financial projections and advise the Fund on how to best position investments.
EXPECTED OUTPUTS:
- Investment policy and procedures for the Fund.
- Transaction reporting of investments performance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Presentations to the Executive Management and/or the Board of Directors.
- Research reports on current and historical financial market data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A First Class or Upper Second-Class degree from an accredited institution in Business, Economics, Finance, Banking, or related fields is essential.
- A Master in a relevant field is a requirement is essential.
- CFA Charter holder is essential.
- 8+ years’ experience in portfolio management experience and in financial services industries is desirable.
- Experience with fixed income investments and a proven ability to articulate an investment outlook is desirable.
