ASARECA alongside other ex-Pillar 4 Africa institutions comprising African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS), Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), CORAF, and Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) are currently implementing the EU-funded and IFAD-managed Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme ex pillar IV (CAADP-XP4) project under the initiative, “Development Smart Innovation through Research in Agriculture” (DeSIRA).
The project seeks, among other things, to strengthen the capacities of the organizations to support member countries to deliver on CAADP results through more systemic and effective partnerships and linkages and use of science, knowledge and innovation for a climate-relevant transformation of agriculture and food systems.
ASARECA intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this grant to eligible payments under this contract, for which this vacancy announcement is issued.
The job holder will support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Data Systems functions of the ASARECA Knowledge and Information Hub (Ki-Hub) through provision of back-end and front-end technical support for content generation as well as data systems development and operationalization.
The assignment entails among other things: overall IT support; cloud servers management; data mining; artificial intelligence; capacity development for users; regular upgrade of the Ki-Hub functionalities, including interoperability of the Hub with partners through creation and integration of APIs; upgrade of resources in the Ki-Hub to include plug-ins for editorial functions, publication system, analytical tool, post format and sharing, download counter, backup facility, language setup, indexing, graphics and citation.
