Knowledge management & Learning Specialist – Kampala
Save the Children International is currently recruiting for a Knowledge Management & Learning Specialist at our Country Office in Kampala. The Knowledge Management and Learning Specialist will lead the development and implementation of a Uganda Country Office Learning, Evidence and Knowledge Management Strategy. They will ensure that individual projects, and the data and evidence that they generate, contributes to the Country Strategic Plan and to improved impact and sustainability. They will also work closely with the SC Uganda Technical and Strategic team to support project staff analysis of their contributions to the achievement of Country Strategic Plan goals and the learning agenda. In collaboration with the Head of Meal, the Knowledge Management and Learning Specialist will ensure consistency in the measurement of outcomes across sectors, facilitate the identification of learning approaches that meet the needs of the Uganda Country Office and ensure best available research practices at all levels (national, regional and global).
The role holder will be responsible for improving and managing knowledge sharing platforms and supporting information management processes, working closely with IT. They will arrange and facilitate knowledge sharing events with SC staff, Partners and other relevant stakeholders. They will be responsible for building the capacity of SC staff and Partner staff in the generation and use of evidence for programme development, adaptation and learning. They will play a key role in promoting a culture of learning across Save the Children and strengthening knowledge management and ensuring there is improved sharing of program experience, learning, and results. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly
To be successful for this role, you will have/bring the following:
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences or relevant equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in international development, developing and managing monitoring and learning systems, research, and overseeing baselines/evaluations.
- Experience in child protection programming, alternative care experience would be preferred
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Passion for evidence-driven development programming and interest in ongoing international research
- Demonstrated experience in developing or overseeing data management solutions.
- Demonstrated capacity for leveraging project results towards broader systemic impact.
- Demonstrated experience at coordinating knowledge sharing through a variety of mediums / communication channels across multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience with an iterative learning, and implementation, approach
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Effective at collaborating and influencing across multiple stakeholders
- Excellent skills in training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring
- Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams, in emergencies
- Previous experience working in the field.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
