1. About ASF

Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) is a development aid nongovernmental organization whose work focuses on giving access to justice and protecting the fundamental rights of all
people with a focus on most marginalised groups.

2. Key responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is tasked with implementing the ASF project “Human rights and the COVID 19 pandemic” in Uganda and Burundi (proficiency in French required). He/she is hosted in the Uganda Country Office and works under the supervision of the Country
Director for Uganda. He/she brings in a strong technical expertise in Rule of Law, and monitoring human rights. He/she worksin close collaboration with the COVID Coordinator in Brussels, the Burundi Coordinator of Programs(Kampala), the International Legal Advisor (Kampala) and the Knowledge Manager (Kampala).

Project management

– Prepare Uganda and Burundi work plans and operational forecasts for the project;

– Design and supervise implementation of ASF activities under the project;

– Prepare project reports to the Country Director;

– Coordinate the implementation of the project with ASF’s partners;

– Centralize, store and archive all relevant documents informing the implementation of the project;

Technical work:

– Support the development and the deployment of the monitoring tools with partner organisations;

– Organise and facilitate workshops, roundtables, training sessions and meetings with partner organisations;

– Draft and review deliverables produced as result of the monitoring;

– Monitor and support legal actions taken under the project.

Knowledge management

– Is responsible for implementation and use of all Monitoring and Evaluation tools and devicesthrough ASF and partners’ activities

– Assist the Country Director and the Knowledge Manager and in analysing M&E data:

– Participate in evaluations and surveys by availing all required information;

– Inject lessons learnt and knowledge gained into the project management cycle and into the formulation of new programmes.

3. Profile

  • Languages: Proficiency in English AND French STRICTLY required
  • Degree: BA in Law
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in monitoring human rights
  • 3 years in the area of Rule of Law, Human Rights or Democratic Governance
