HEALTH PROGRAM

Our Health intervention in Uganda began in 2008 to ensure that people living in poverty can access quality, affordable health services. The goal of the projects is to lower morbidity and mortality among children under five from diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria: improve maternal health: improve basic essential healthcare services in rural areas: and improve the nutritional status of smallholder families with a focus on pregnant women, children under five and adolescent girls.

UGANDA SANITATION FOR HEALTH ACTIVITY (USHA)

Job Title: Project Officers (USHA) – 8 Positions

Location: Buikwe-01, Lugazi-01, Kaliro-01, Kitgum-03, Buwenge-01, Buyala-01 .

Core Roles and Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, and implementing sanitation and hygiene activities in BRAC areas of operation especially at community levels
• Directly supervise and ensure CHPs are 100 % active monthly in sato sales to improve household sanitation in the designated project areas.
• Ensure achievement of CHPs key performance indicator(s) on monthly basis
• Capacity building, mentoring and coaching CHPs on SATO marketing and sales pitching.
• Promoting and marketing WASH services and SATOs at HH/ community level.
• Carry out social behavior change communications on hygiene and sanitation improvements in the targeted communities
• Documenting, monitoring, tracking, SATO sales and reporting (produce quality complete accurate reports) on monthly basis
• Use evidence data to plan, supervise and make decisions to drive SATO sales.
• Profiling the sanitation status of households in the community and target them for upgrade or improvement to at least basic level.
• Read, understand, practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case of any reportable incident takes place, encourages others to do so.
• Any other related activities or tasks as need may arise during course of implementation

Job specifications

• The successful candidate should have: 1-Diploma in Health-related, Social Sciences, Marketing or Business Administration 2- One-two years’ experience implementing WASH projects, 3- Experience implementing USAID WASH project is an added advantage. 4-Strong communication and sanitation marketing skills, 5-Self-driven, passionate and results oriented. 6-Computer skills-using smart phones/ digital skills for tracking SATO sales and reporting in real time. 6- Reliable, dependable and ability to work under pressure. Networking skills with local leaders, masons, and community health workers/CHWs
