Role Definition:

The Senior Technical Auditor will be responsible for conducting technical audits on designs, procurement, supervision services, construction and maintenance works for roads and bridges and any other engineering projects.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Profile potential risks for planned audit areas to guide on the risk-based audit activities;
  2. Draft audit plans for specified audit activities;
  3. Implement risk based technical internal audit assignments in line with departmental work plan and relevant audit standards;
  4. Document results of the audits and make appropriate recommendations within the set timelines;
  5. Coordinate with the risk management and compliance units the organization’s risk assessment;
  6. Draft audit reports highlighting areas of improvement and make respective recommendations;
  7. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

 Required Education Qualifications:

  1. An Honors Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway engineering or;
  2. A Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with a Master’s Degree;
  3. For those with a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree in a related field and other post graduate qualifications in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering or other relevant field will be an added advantage;
  4. Registration with the professional Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or its equivalent in the Commonwealth will be an added advantage;
  5. Certification as a CPA, ACCA, CIA or any other relevant profession will an added advantage;
  6. Computer literacy is a must.

 

Experience and Knowledge:

  1. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in auditing, civil engineering or quality control in civil engineering projects in a large organization;
  2. Demonstrated working experience in audit of an organization/business unit with diverse professions.

Character and behavioral attributes:

  1. High level of integrity;
  2. Proven track record of outstanding performance;
  3. Ability to work as part of a team and to develop subordinates;
  4. Excellent interpersonal, particularly staff/management relations;
  5. Ability to manage/supervise multi skilled teams and deliver accurate results in a timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
