Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Provide scientific guidance and ensure high research standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define and implement research.
- Write and supervise publications and other scientific communications.
- Lead/Supervise capacity building initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior scientists and staff.
- Represent CIFOR in relevant forums.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders.
- Lead fundraising efforts for research areas.
- Plan and monitor research activities, including finances.
- Contribute to donor reporting.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- PhD in a relevant discipline is required.
- Experience in collaborative natural resource management or social science research is essential.
- More senior positions require the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and expertise in more than one region (across countries and continents).
- Demonstrated success in budget development is needed. Scientist positions require budget management success on multiple projects and meeting key financial objectives.
- A strong publications record, especially in peer-reviewed publications, is mandatory.
- Proven experience in resource mobilization/fundraising and proposal development/writing. Scientist positions require conceptual leadership and oversight in fundraising, plus a successful track record in obtaining donor funding.
- Effectiveness in working with multiple partners and coordinating/participating in research and fieldwork in developing countries.
- Demonstrated experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary research teams.
Skills:
- Fluent spoken and written English is essential; proficiency in other international languages is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- A commitment to information sharing, continuous improvement, and cooperative learning.
Terms & Conditions
- Successful candidates will receive competitive remuneration in US dollars, commensurate with their skills and experience.
