Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is a leading international non-governmental organization dedicated to creating a fair world for everyone by working through volunteers. In 2022/23, over 7,700 volunteers globally contributed their skills to support nearly 11 million people across 35 countries.

Role Overview

VSO, in partnership with the Uzbekistan government, is seeking experienced English language teaching professionals. You’ll work alongside local teachers in secondary schools to strengthen English language education and build the capacity of in-service teachers. This involves:

  • Delivering school curriculum lessons.
  • Conducting professional development and coaching workshops.
  • Supporting teachers and students in improving English proficiency.
  • Promoting student-centered methodologies and international best practices.

This is a unique chance to share your expertise, collaborate with local educators, and contribute to sustainable improvements in English language teaching in Uzbekistan.

This is a fully funded international volunteering opportunity for experienced English Language Teachers with VSO in Uzbekistan.

Ideal Applicant

 

VSO is looking for graduate-qualified English language teaching professionals who are passionate about capacity building and professional development. You should meet the following criteria:

  • Education/Certification:
    • Background in TESOL, TEFL, Linguistics, or a related field.
    • Hold CELTA, DELTA, TEFL, or TESOL certifications.
  • Experience:
    • Secondary or high school English language teaching experience.
    • Prior international teaching experience is desirable.
    • Familiarity with Cambridge, Oxford, or Pearson curricula is desirable.
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Passion for capacity building and professional development.
    • Desire to make a lasting impact on education.
    • Eagerness to immerse yourself in a new culture.
