The Government of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Education is dedicated to improving English language attainment for students nationwide. Uzbekistan is actively modernizing its education system, with a strong emphasis on English language learning as a core component of its national development strategy. VSO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is seeking passionate and committed English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers to enhance English language education in Uzbek public schools. This presents an exciting chance to contribute to a transformative education program while immersing oneself in Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage.

As an ESL teacher in a government-registered public school, you will be instrumental in improving the English language skills of students aged 11–16. Through innovative and engaging teaching methods, you will empower students to enhance their language proficiency and unlock future opportunities. Additionally, you will mentor and provide ongoing professional development for Uzbek English language teachers through peer learning sessions and other modern approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver interactive and effective English lessons to secondary school students (50% of the time).
- Build the capacity of local English teachers through coaching and mentoring.
- Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, to improve students’ speaking and writing skills.
- Design and deliver engaging and interactive lesson plans tailored to students’ learning needs, incorporating ICT tools and technology.
- Provide constructive feedback to support students’ progress and confidence in using English.
- Collaborate closely with assistant teachers to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Facilitate workshops to enhance the capacity of local English language teachers.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, along with a CELTA, DELTA, TESOL, TEFL, Linguistics, or Applied Linguistics qualification.
- Fluency in English (C1 level) with strong communication skills and accreditation.
- Prior experience teaching ESL/EFL at the secondary or high school level is preferred.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
- Experience integrating technology into English language teaching.
