The Opportunity
The Division of Energy and Climate Action (TCS/ECA) is calling for expressions of interest from qualified candidates to join its team as Project Coordinators (P3 level). Successful applicants will be placed on a two-year roster for short- to mid-term assignments, supporting the implementation of technical cooperation projects within one of two units:
- Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization Unit (TCS/ECA/ESD)
- Sustainable and Just Energy Transitions Unit (TCS/ECA/JET)
These roles are critical to advancing UNIDO’s work in low-carbon industrial development, renewable energy deployment, and supporting a just energy transition in developing economies.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will:
- Design and Manage Projects: Appraise, review, and manage technical cooperation projects aligned with national, regional, and sectoral priorities.
- Research and Analysis: Analyze economic, social, and technical data relevant to proposed projects; synthesize insights for project development.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government officials, donor agencies, and technical experts to align project goals with development agendas.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Oversee implementation progress, conduct field visits, assess reports, and contribute to mid-term evaluations.
- Reporting & Knowledge Sharing: Document lessons learned, provide debriefings, and ensure effective communication across project teams and stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
UNIDO seeks dynamic professionals with a strong background in technical cooperation and sustainable industrial development.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in engineering, sciences, economics, international relations, or a related discipline. Specialization in Industrial Decarbonization or Just Energy Transition is desirable. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in technical cooperation or project management, with international exposure.- Proven ability to analyze complex data and recommend actionable solutions.
- Experience working in or with developing countries is highly desirable.
- Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.

Contract Terms
