Accountant

Purpose of the Job:

The job holder will be responsible for the Accounts Payables function and will be under the direct supervision of the Financial Accountant.

Qualifications and experience:

The applicable candidate must have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

 

1. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant degree

2. Additional certification ACCA, CPA

3. At least five years’ work experience as an Accountant

4. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures

5. Proficient in General Ledger functions

6. Advanced MS Excel skills, proficiency in SAP accounting software

7. Knowledge, skills and ability to perform the required tasks

8. Attention to detail and good analytical skills

9. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks

10. A mature and practicing Christian who upholds the University’s Core values and Instruments of Identity

Key Competencies & Responsibilities:

1. Ensuring Budget Consumptions for departments are captured.

2. Initiate payments and post entries

3. Prepare accounts

4. Keep account books and systems up to date

5. Monitor spending and budgets

6. Compile and prepare financial and budget reports

7. Conduct balance sheet and bank accounts’ reconciliation

8. Analyze financial performance

9. Manage financial information

10. Advise and help clients and staff on financial matters

11. Any other official duties as may be assigned by assigned by the supervisor
