Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from a recognized University / Institution.
Working Experience
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Agricultural Inspector
Phytosanitary for performing the following duties:-
-
– Inspecting and certifying compliance of the plant and plant products to laws and regulations;
– Inspecting plant and plant products moving in international trade;
– Carrying out interceptions / destruction and re-exportation of prohibited / rejected plants and plant products;
– Performing preliminary pest and disease detection and pest exclusion at entry/ exit or inspection point and enforcing quarantines;
– Inspecting and verifying seed and agricultural chemicals imports;
– Issuing phytosanitary certificates;
– Inspecting plants during active growth, plant nurseries and plant products destined for export;
– Carrying out surveillance / monitoring of quarantine pests at entry / exit points and along the border;
– Supervising prescribed phytosanitary treatments;
– Collaborating with other agencies at entry points (Customs, UNBS, Police, Civil Aviation);
– Carrying out internal and open quarantine;
– Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
