Short Term Technical Specialists in social norms program implementation.

Introduction
Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC) is a not-for-profit technical assistance organisation that promotes evidence-based impactful interventions that improve the wellbeing of vulnerable groups. IIDC is supporting a number of implementing partners in East Africa to design, implement and measure Social norms transformation interventions that especially focus on addressing violence against women and children.

In order to meet the growing needs in this area, IIDC is seeking for CVs/Applications from individuals who are Specialists in Social norms transformation programming to be selected for short term assignments in social norms technical support work IIDC provide to its partners.

The technical specialist(s) will be deployed from time to time to support IIDC partners depending on needs and projects at hand.Currently IIDC is working with partners on social norms under one of the parenting programs in 6 regions of Lango, Teso, Buganda, Bunyoro, Ankole, and Busoga and would like to engage technical services of social norms specialists to support work in social norms exploration in each of the regions.

Responsibilities/duties
• To work with IIDC technical advisors in designing and delivering training content on social norms concepts and their application to programming.
• To support IIDC implementing partners in the exploration/diagnosis of relevant/existing social norms in their thematic and geographical areas of operation.
• To support partners in identifying and prioritising social norms to be targeted as part of the programming process.
• To support partners in designing effective and appropriate social norms transformation interventions and activities
• To provide handholding support to partners during implementation of social norms transformation interventions.
• To support partners in monitoring and measuring changes in social norms as a result of programming interventions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• A minimum of master’s degree in the social/behavioural sciences, (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Development, Evaluation, Health Communication, and other relevant areas) with behaviour change, social mobilization, participatory social change approaches, innovation, and research and/or monitoring and evaluation methods.
• A Bacheors degree in any of the relevant areas above and additional trainings in social nomrs and with over 10 years relevant experience
Expertise and Competencies
• Minimum 10 years of responsible work experience in the social change programmes, including specific expertise in social norms, with practical experience in the exploration, identification and application of social norms analysis to the design and implementation of impactful interventions/programmes.
• Competence in developing and applying research, planning and measurement tools in the area of social norms.
• Experience in conducting and facilitating field level research and helping organizations or communities to use/apply the data to design or refine interventions. Preference will be programs that focus on children.
• Thematic experience in the area of violence against children and women will be a highly added advantage.
• Willingness to be deployed/travel in the field outside of Kampala is a must.
