World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in 43 districts and have 48 Area Programmes implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & resilience, education and child protection. Position:         Child Protection Case worker

Report to:       Child Protection Assistant

Location:        Yumbe District

Purpose of the position:

 

To give support in identifying, documenting and responding to child protection cases of vulnerable children in refugee settlements. The case worker will monitor, conduct case by case follow ups and facilitate the interim care and reunification process of separated or unaccompanied children

 

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

 

Ensure activity planning, monitor and ensure standards and quality in the implementation of technical models and approaches

  • Work with Child Protection Committees to identify, report, and refer Violence Against Children within the community.
  • Conduct Best Interest Assessments (BIAs)/ Best Interest Determination (BID) for UASC/CR
  • Develop and updated case plans for all children identified requiring case management and provide targeted case-by-case support.
  • Identify and refer UASC/CR for appropriate and specialized services including PSS.
  • Develop and implement a monitoring plan for UASC/CR in the caseload in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Manage 100% of cases of UASC/CR in ProGress version 4.
  • Hold sessions/ dialogue meetings with children on key issues affecting children
  • Participate in reflection and dialogue meetings within the community and mobilize children for peace-building activities.
  • Orient caregivers on child protection policy, peace building activities (ECaP) model
  • Prepare and submit weekly work plan and compile and submit weekly and monthly updates
  • Documentation of success stories
  • Support vulnerable children and ensure they have access to basic care relief items, services in the community, and interim care.
  • Ensure all the necessary paperwork for case management, is completed accurately and stored in the case files

 

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

 

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in Social Science, Community Psychology, Governance, Development studies, and relevant skills
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Practical and relevant experience in operating in a humanitarian context;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian principles and established international child protection standards is an asset;
  • Commitment to and respect for humanitarian values and norms;
  • Work with reliability and integrity
