Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in History; or Archeology; or Social Anthropology/Ethnography; or Geography; or Tourism; or Education and Fine Art/Curatorship plus a Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants should possess a Post Graduate training in Museums and Heritage Management studies.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of ten (10) years relevant working , three (3) of which should have been gained at the level of Assistant Commissioner Museums / Sites in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Director Tourism, Wildlife and Museums for performing the following duties:-
– Providing Technical Leadership in the formulation and review of Policies, plans, programs and guidelines for the Museums;
– Providing Leadership in the development of annual recurrent and capital development estimates for the Museums;
– Providing Technical Leadership of the management of Museum Projects;
– Ensuring development and enhancement of regional Museums;
– Leading the implementation and domestication of the Conventions and Agreements affecting the Museums artefacts in liaison with UNESCO, ICOM, AFRICOM and other Development Partners;
– Providing Leadership in the research and publication in Ethnography, History and general Museology;
– Supervising, coaching and mentoring staff under his/her department;
– Any other duties as may be deemed appropriate.
