Position: Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Social Worker (2) – BMZ/CBM project)

Reports to: (CBID) Social Work Team Leader

Overall Job Purpose:

The Project Social Worker (i.e. Community Based Inclusive Development – CBID) person shall use the CBID centered and community focused approach to the provision of rehabilitation services to persons with disability. The Project Social Worker will be responsible for the fi eld related activities in the 2 districts of the Central Region while based at CoRSU.

He/she shall involve the persons with disability, the community, service providers and the government institutions mandated to serve persons with disability in the reporting and the day today duties. The Social Worker shall alternately work with other Social Workers in the hopital to achieve to:

Promote delivery of effi cient Social Work services that enhances quality of life for persons with disabilities and particularly children through Rehabilitation, Disability Awareness, Social Inclusion, Child Safeguarding and Provision of Social Support services to Patients and Caregivers

 Ensures that patients receive Rehabilitation and Social interventions, provides mentorship to Social Work Volunteers, Care givers and Community Mobilisers

Academic/Professional qualifi cations, work experience, knowledge & skills

 University Degree in Disability Studies, Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Work and Social Administration, Social Science, and Community Development Studies or its equivalent.

 Recognised training in Medical Rehabilitation, Advocacy, CBID, leadership and community work skills is added advantage.

 3 years’ experience in Disability, Community Based Rehabilitation and Community development work

 Dynamic professional with experience in CBID centered and community focused approach

 Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power point)

 Excellent communication, presentation social, reporting and Training skills

 Training and mentoring skills

 Good communications (oral and written), presentation and report writing skills

 Ability to work under tight deadlines.

 Excellent people relational and counselling skills.
