Girls Not Brides, a global partnership committed to ending child marriage, has two consultancy positions available. These roles are for experienced professionals who can contribute to the organization’s mission through specialized projects.
1. Consultant: “Playbook for Transformative Action to End Child Marriage”
Girls Not Brides is seeking a consultant to lead the development of a strategic advocacy tool called the “Playbook for Transformative Action to End Child Marriage.” The playbook will serve as a shared resource and action guide for various stakeholders, including governments, civil society, donors, and grassroots organizations. The goal is to synthesize what is known about effective strategies to end child, early, and forced marriage.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Co-design the content, structure, and outreach strategy for the playbook.
- Review and synthesize existing internal documents and research.
- Conduct key informant interviews with national-level advocates and implementers.
- Produce draft and final versions of the written playbook and a visual summary.
- Required Expertise:
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Experience in developing advocacy tools, policy briefs, or research reports.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex evidence into accessible and engaging formats.
- Strong background in feminist research methods and qualitative data synthesis.
- Knowledge of the child marriage evidence base, gender equality, and global development.
This is a short-term, remote consultancy with a budget of up to £10,000 GBP. The application deadline is September 1, 2025.
2. Maternity Cover – Partnership and Impact Consultant
This consultancy role is a part-time position, providing five months of maternity cover to support Girls Not Brides’ work in Uganda. The consultant will be a key point of contact for the Girls Not Brides National Partnership in Uganda (GNBU), a network of civil society organizations working to end child marriage in the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Engagement: Act as the primary focal point for the GNBU, ensuring consistent communication and coordination between the national partnership and the Girls Not Brides global secretariat. This involves facilitating meetings, check-ins, and strategic discussions.
- Project Oversight: Provide day-to-day coordination for a specific project in Uganda, ensuring activities align with grant objectives and timelines. This includes applying project management skills to monitor progress, track deliverables, and ensure timely reporting from implementing partners.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL): Contribute to MEL activities by compiling quarterly project reports, documenting collaborative efforts, and highlighting best practices and success stories from the work in Uganda.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, gender studies, or human rights. They should have proven experience in project management, preferably within an international development context, and significant experience working on issues related to ending child marriage or gender equality. Familiarity with MEL frameworks and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential.
