3.0 Main Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the role is to coordinate Policy and Advocacy work of UNNGOF within the ambit of the strategic plan and based on identified priorities and objectives, in order to influence policy and practices at local and national level with government and other stakeholders.
The role will lead on research and analysis of political, social and economic trends in the country, as well as the efficacy of policies and its implementation, in order to identify key focus areas for civil society advocacy interventions. This position will also be responsible for: visioning, planning, implementing and evaluating our policy agenda.

4.0 Duties and Responsibilities
a) Provide strategic and operational leadership on development and implementation of an
advocacy strategy to deliver impact in relation to UNNGOF’s strategic plan;
b) Lead the process of designing a clear policy and advocacy component;
c) Analyze sector policies in order to generate evidence on their impact on the CSO sector;
d) Identify priorities for advocacy and policy actions to be implemented by UNNGOF
throughout its programming stages;
e) Spearhead policy monitoring and analysis for the CSO sector in collaboration with other
stakeholders and identify key policy recommendations and design appropriate messages for policy makers and stakeholders;
f) Support initiatives of local actors to influence and contribute to National Policy development;
g) Lead on influencing key external targets such as specific government departments, UN
Agencies and other international institutions and donors, to strengthen policy and practice;
h) Coordinate and undertake research, analysis and drafting responses to a range of issues and topics;
i) Develop annual work plans and budgets for the Policy Advocacy & Engagement Component and ensure delivery of set targets;
j) Supervise and mentor staff under the Policy, Advocacy & Engagement Component; and
k) Perform any other duties that are beyond the scope of this job description in mutual discussion and agreement with the Head of Programmes.
5.0 Experience, Qualifications and Competences
Good understanding of policy and advocacy processes at both national and international levels.
Must possess a Master’s degree in the fields of social work, development economics, political science and or any other related field.
3 – 5 years working experience in a managerial and or senior position in the NGO sector.
Possess excellent analytical and writing skills with proficient computer knowledge.
Evidence of participation in the development of policy briefs and research papers.
Excellent communication, facilitation and public relations skills.
