Job Title: Data Manager, HMIS FP (1)

Reports to: Assistant Commissioner/Health Information

Job purpose: Responsible for the management, organization, storage, maintenance, and access of information.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

a) Identifying database requirements and designs systems according to needs of the organization.

b) Defining database structures, functional capabilities, and ensures database security and availability in real time.

c) Improving the effectiveness of the database tools and services

d) Maintaining and monitor database performance of the information systems

e) Building capacity of users.

f) Automating common queries from users through a dashboard.

g) Maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards, procedures and ethics.

h) Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

i) Ensuring all the data complies with legal regulations.

j) Building new databases, monitoring data entry procedures and troubleshooting

Person Specifications

a) Academic Qualifications

 Relevant University Degree in Computer Science and related fields from a
recognised University/Institution.

 Those with master’s degree in Computer Science or related field from a
recognized University/Institution will have added advantage.

b) Experience

 At least six years of experience in managing, developing and maintaining large and complex databases in a large organization

 Experience in database management, database performance tuning, database security and operating systems

Competences

 A good understanding of database architecture, software, database management systems and data Protection Act.

 Knowledge of information security policies.

 Ability to pay attention to details.

 A team player, dependable with good analytical skills.

 Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy.

 Good communication, presentation and negotiating skills.

 A willingness to keep up to date with developments in technology.
