Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.
Under the overall guidance of the Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO)as a secondary supervisor and direct supervision of the Development Coordination Officer/Economist in the UN RCO as the first supervisor, the Economic Analyst will be responsible for;
· Supporting evidence-based analysis to establish the trends of sustainable development, challenges, and opportunities in Uganda
· Participate in UN internal and external engagements aimed at providing advice on innovative economic and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) policies to accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda
· Support in the preparation of programmes aimed at accelerating the achievement of SDGs
· Support in planning and managing SDG related events
· Engage in sustainable development advocacy and communication activities
· Support knowledge management on SDG related issues and promote learning within the relevant networks
· Maintain existing and build new partnerships with Government, development partners and other stakeholders that collaborate with the UN in the implementation and achievement of the 2030 Agenda
· Keep abreast of Uganda’s socio-economic trends and identify their implications for UN’s development cooperation
· Any other duties as may be assigned
· Have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, economic policy and planning, economic policy management, public policy, or any other closely related field. Those who meet the required years of experience and in the final year of their postgraduate degree will also be considered.
· Extensive knowledge of Uganda’s social and economic development context.
· Analytical skills and application of techniques (e.g. econometric tools, Microsoft, statistical analysis)
· Demonstrable skills in writing and presentation
· Have affinity with or interest in coordination, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
