Job Title: EPIDEMIOLOGIST (8 Positions)

Works station: Regional Referral Hospital (Naguru, Entebbe, Soroti, Arua, Fortportal, Hoima, Mubende & Masaka)

Reports to: Principal Epidemiologist

Job Purpose: To support implementation of policies and plans on epidemic and disaster preparedness and control by carrying out investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries

Key Outputs

• Epidemiologic Investigations conducted by Investigating and responding to disease
epidemics and disasters
• Epidemiologic services provided
• Participation in surveillance activities
• Epidemiologic findings disseminated.
• Participation in Administrative and Program Projects and Activities

Key Functions

• Participates in epidemiologic studies and urgent outbreak investigations
• Performs statistical analyses of investigations
• Participates in the design, management, and use of surveillance systems
• Overseeing data collection, entry, analysis and interpretation of epidemic prone
diseases
• Participates in the design of instruments for the collection of surveillance information
and data
• Training district health workers on epidemic preparedness, control and surveillance
• Implements new or revises existing surveillance systems
• Participates in the development and dissemination of data and epidemiologic findings
• Preparing periodic monitoring and performance reports.

Qualifications

• MBChB or BVM or a Degree in Epidemiology or any other related field from a
recognized University/Institution
• Master’s degree with a focus in epidemiology or any other related field would be of
added advantage.
• Three (3) years relevant working experience in epidemiology in a public health
organization at national level or multinational Organization.
