Send a Cow is a grassroots livelihood development non-governmental organisation, which was founded in 1988 as a response to combating poverty and malnutrition in Uganda. The organisation operates on the principle of organised community groups while promoting the “Passing on Gifts” model. Using the extension service delivery model knowledge and skills in agronomy, Gender and social inclusion, business and youth skilling are passed on to vulnerable communities. Send a Cow designs development solutions with, and for, the communities to get back the skills and confidence they need from the resources around them such as land. The organisation currently works in the North, Central, Eastern and Western parts of Uganda targeting vulnerable households, refugee populations and their host communities, youth and smallholder farmers.

With funding from UK-AID, Send a Cow Uganda (SACU) is seeking an experienced Farm Systems Officer to act as the technical lead of the farm systems component of SACU’s work.  The Farm Systems Officer  will work with programme staff and partners to support participating communities (individual group members, groups, associations and community members), to understand and address their problems, improve and build on their own solutions through appropriate sustainable agriculture practices. Candidates should hold a BSc in Agriculture with a specialty in any of these fields: agronomy, extension services, environmental science, soil and water management, rural development or other related fields.  Experience in implementing agriculture projects in the field is also essential.
