Our Client in the financial sector is looking to identify results-driven, visionary, strategic thinking experienced, and highly qualified leaders with excellent credentials, proven experience, demonstrated capacity, and know-how to fill the position of Head of Credit
As a member of ExCo, the Head of Credit (HC) shares responsibility for ensuring the success and sustainability of the bank; in particular by developing and executing the bank’s Strategy. The Head Credit leads the function that provides independent oversight of the Bank’s credit risk as well as the development of credit quality review policies and procedures, the credit approval process, administration of the loan portfolio and portfolio analysis, Collections and Recoveries, special assets, and officer credit training programs. The Head of Credit will provide the leadership and vision to develop and execute lending and credit risk policies and strategies in support of the Bank’s business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Embed Customer Obsession with Winning Propositions
- Loan Products CVP: Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Banking Divisions and in the Credit Domain to develop and implement a cross-cutting business plan and marketing strategy for the Bank’s Loan Products (including product portfolio, positioning, price, promotion); aim to optimize return on investment within agreed risk appetite.
- Become Digital & Data Driven
- Digital & Customer Centricity: Enhance efficiency & CX via digitization; in particular, digitize the loan application process for faster TATs.
- Build a High-Performance Culture
- Redesign organization structure to deliver on strategic priorities, transform culture and address skill gaps across the organization
- Financial
- Collections, Arrears, & Recoveries: Lead the development and implementation of effective and efficient payment and collections systems to minimize the occurrence of arrears; implement best practices for fast treatment of arrears and ensure that timely, assertive, legally compliant action is taken to manage distressed loans.
- Cost Management: Actual vs Budget spend for the domain
- Customer
- Brand Integrity: Ensure that customers are experiencing the promised value propositions and that mechanisms are in place for collecting & utilizing both positive & corrective feedback.
- Responsible for overseeing and leading the collections and recovery operations and managing the effective and efficient recovery of delinquent accounts while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Process and Risk
- Risk and Compliance: Ensure the development of a strong culture of risk and compliance management; take responsibility for the implementation of risk-management controls and for statutory compliance within the Credit Domain.
- Portfolio Performance: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of strategies, systems, and tools to track changes in borrower behavior & creditworthiness; take action as necessary to optimize return on investment and mitigate potential losses.
- Learning and Capacity
- Bank Capacity Building: Ensure that all staff (bank-wide) who are involved in the Credit Value Chain are effectively trained and well-equipped to deliver consistently satisfactory experiences to customers.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
- Additional training/professional qualification in Business, Investment, and project appraisal.
- Credit Certification.
- Business or related professional qualification.
- At least 10 years of experience of which 5 have been in a Senior Management role in Credit Approval/Analysis /Risk

Technical competencies:
- Strong understanding of lending and risk management in respect of Corporates and commercial business.
- Proven experience in the identification of risks and controls related to Credit Risk
- Well-versed in traditional banking and trade products, as well as treasury and more complex solutions, syndications
- Strong understanding of corporate governance.
- Good understanding of the Financial Institutions Act (FIA), AML Act, Income-tax Act, IFRS standards, and exposure
- Strong business acumen, ideally with previous experience in developing and managing a product portfolio
- Keen understanding of the current trends in terms of digitizing and innovating in the Credit field.
