Kyagalanyi Coffee Ltd. [KCL] is a member of the Volcafe group and it is the oldest and one of the leading  coffee exporter in Uganda, buying Arabica and Robusta across the country and exporting to over 30 consuming countries around the world. Our quality and relationship oriented business strategy aims to lift up the entire coffee sector by generating shared value and improve the quality perception of Ugandan Arabica and Robusta around the globe.

 

To ensure we can deliver on our service level to our global network, we are looking for a Head of Logistics.

 

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure all aspects of the contract execution are performed, measure and monitored to deliver excellence in service to our customers on the fasters possible time to minimize our cash cycle;
  • Be the catalyst to generate synergy between the departments and create KPI’s to measure performance of the logistics team as well as KPI’s for the departments that play a key role on the success of the execution.
  • Ensure full understanding and execution of the invoice and allocation of contracts and dispatch of documents to ensure a fast cash cycle
  • Ensure yearly benchmark and actively negotiate with all logistics service providers based on cost, level of service and capacity and to ensure contracts are maintained accordingly and reviewed by our Legal team
  • Understanding in depth our insurance policy related to logistics activity and responsible to maintain proper documentation to support claims as well as the monitoring and reporting of our insurance cost and full assistance on claim recoveries.
  • Ensure all costs related to each individual shipment are controlled, reported and used as a tool of continuous improvement and for both trade and logistics activities.
  • Training and development of the team including but not limited to:
  • Developing KPIs for the team and ensure periodic review.
  • Ensure adequate exposure and guidance to increase efficiency and performance of the team.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate and regular interaction and reporting to customers on the status of their shipments as well as react to their needs within the boundaries of the contractual terms.
  • Ensure regular update of the FOB cost Matrix with the trading department and to develop a payment processing system to ensure adequate approval of invoices to be paid.
  • Handling the various import consignments related to our business, such as spare parts, Jute Bags and air cargo execution as necessary.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

  • Graduate degree holder on Engineering, Economics, Logistics or Administration or related field; 10+ years of proven logistics experience and team management.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to fine detail.
  • Excellent Negotiation skills to ensure adequate management of different basis, routes, and cost monitoring.
  • Excellent Microsoft Teams, Word and Excel. Microsoft Lists experience desired
