Action Against Hunger-USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, which provides humanitarian relief in over 40 countries worldwide in the sectors of nutrition, health, water/sanitation, and food security. Action Against Hunger-USA, an independent NGO, currently manages operations in 7 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti and Somalia. Action Against Hunger-USA has approximately 1,500 staff based in the various country offices, Head Quarter in New York City and Operational Centre in Nairobi. Additional growth is anticipated.

leading in the design and development of Monitoring and Evaluation tools, reporting and analyzing program data, prepare and consolidate lessons learnt, success stories to inform learning and programme reviews and implementations.
Key activities in your role will include:
- Contextualize MEAL standards and build an integrated system that enables us to efficiently monitor the progress and outcomes of all AAH supported projects in Uganda.
- Conduct context analysis which form the basis for designing new programs.
- Develop/adapt and digitalizes reporting tools that enable us to effectively report progress and impact to donors, government and other stakeholders.
- Develop and operationalizes “essential tracking tools” to enable effective tracking of contractual obligations and deliverables across all programs.
- Lead the process of developing/adapting and digitalizing data collection tools which are used by our staff and partners to continuously monitor program implementation and impact.
- Plan for and ensure baselines are measured for all projects.
- Maintain partnerships with academic institutions and reputable journals and ensures that key evaluation findings are published to strengthen our thought leadership.
- Collaborate with HQ and the regional office to define, contextualize and apply strategic planning standards and tools
- Lead the process of cascading the strategic plan – through highly integrated programs, departmental plans and KPIs for all staff positions
- Maintain close engagement with Regional MEAL Advisor and contribute to global AAH MEAL projects
- Promote digitalization of program MEAL processes.
Requirements
- You have at least 7 years management and/or MEAL leadership experience in a both emergency and development contexts, preferably with solid experience in more than one of the AAH priority sectors: food security, health and nutrition, WASH and emergencies.
- You have a solid experience in setting up MEAL systems (including design, digitalization and operationalization).
- You have extensive experience in conducting baselines, midterm reviews and evaluations
- You have a solid experience managing partnership with academic or research institutions – including managing publications
- You are highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
- You are highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- You are extensive understanding of MEAL standards used by key donors (i.e., USAID, SIDA, DFID, WFP, EU, UN, etc)
- You are a strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets.
- You have the ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
- You have the ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies.
- You are excellent analytical, team management and communication skills.
