Job Summary
The Head Teacher will be responsible for the smooth running of the school, academic achievement of learners and management of staff. The Head Teacher will lead, motivate and manage staff by delegating responsibilities, setting expectations, targets and evaluating staff performance against them.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Administration
• Sets direction for the school to enable all learners to reach their potential, and to translate a vision into a whole school curriculum with consistency and high expectations.
• Creates and maintains an effective partnership with parents/ care takers to support and improve learners’ achievement and personal development.
• Allocates, controls and accounts for the financial and material resources of the school which are under the control of the Head teacher and adhering to financial regulations.
Human Resource Management
• Liaise with Human Resource department in the recruitment and orientation process of new staff.
• Build teacher commitment to professional development thereby leading, motivating, supporting, challenging and developing staff at all levels in order to secure and sustain continuous improvement and staff well-being and to be committed to personal continuing professional development.
• Manages all employee relations matters in conjunction with the HR team.
Academics and learning standards
• Ensures a healthy balance of academic, co-curricular and life skills for learners thereby monitoring records of work and curriculum covered: ensuring time table Implementation and Learner Assessment is monitored and Co-curricular activities implemented.
• Ensures continuous effective systems of planning, assessment, recording and reporting, using data and benchmarks to monitor attainment and progress in every learner’s learning and using this data continuously to support and improve standards.
• Ensuring that staff are aware of current educational developments and are kept up to date through an ongoing programme of continuous professional development.

Discipline
• Ensuring that proper standards of behavior and discipline are implemented.
Relations with educational establishments/ bodies
• Manages teaching and learning to ensure that there is a high degree of consistency and innovation in teaching practices to enable personalized learning for all students: Engages with networks collaborating to build curriculum diversity, professional support and extended services.
• Maintains good relationships with organizations and education establishments representing teachers and other persons on the staff of the school.
Safeguarding children
• Safeguard and promotion of welfare of learners and ensure that all stake holders are aware of policies/ code of conduct on child protection and safeguarding.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Bachelor’s Degree with relevant post graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized University / Institution.
• Registered as a Graduate Teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
• A minimum of six (6) years of proven teaching experience in a Secondary School;
• A Master’s Degree in Education or related field is an added advantage;
• Minimum of 5 years supervising a busy team in a public or private school.
The Person should:
• Possess excellent written and public speaking skills.
• Have Computer literacy skills
• Be a Good team player, results oriented, self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision and for long hours under extreme pressure
• Have creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Have demonstrated interest in the community education
