Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Human Resources Administrative Assistant.

The work schedule for this position is:  

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time followingreceipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties: Incumbent provides personnel support to the HR section including clerical support and records management in connection with processing of personnel actions.  Incumbent reports to the Human Resources Specialist (HRS) and is a member of a section consisting of the Regional HRO, HR Specialist, 3 HR Assistants, HR Payroll Liaison Clerk, and EFM HR Assistant.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school is required. Diploma in Human Resources, Public Administration, Management or Administration is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Two years of clerical or administrative work in a busy office is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must have good working knowledge of general office procedures and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook. Knowledge of general HR Regulations and policies, Records management and procedures.

Evaluations: (This may be tested)

LANGUAGE: Level IV English ability is required.  Level III (good working knowledge) in Luganda, Lusoga, Acholi or Lukyakitara is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have strong computer skills.  Ability to use personal computers and other office equipment such as scanners, shredders, and copy machines is required.    

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.  Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.  

** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
