DCA is looking for a suitable professional to fill the position of Humanitarian Programme Coordinator (HPC).The main function of HPC is to support the implementation of humanitarian – development nexus in a timely and high-quality manner, in close collaboration with the rest of the DCA humanitarian team, the rest of DCA Uganda and NGO and INGO partners.
The HPC reports to the Head of Humanitarian Operations (HoHO), who is based in West Nile. The HPC is physically placed in the Programme Unit in Kampala and has a close collaboration with the Head of Programme, the Country Director and the other Programme Officers in the unit.

DCA’s Uganda Programme:
DanChurchAid (DCA) is an international NGO and has supported development and humanitarian programmes in Uganda for almost 40 years. DCA works in partnership with local partners as well as undertakes direct implementation. DCA is a member of the ACT Alliance. The main responsibility of the HPC is to support the HoHO and the rest of the humanitarian team in the following areas:
- Representing DCAs nexus and humanitarian work in relevant working-groups and sector meetings in Kampala in DCA priority areas such as cash, livelihood, environment and energy.
- Support development of proposals and actively engaged with consortium partners in the process.
- Performed grant management and smaller grants, including financial project budget monitoring and accountability.
- Preparing and implementation of reviews and evaluations in close collaboration with DCA MEAL staff.
- Serve as liaison between staff implementing DCA nexus work in West Nile and other colleagues in DCA Uganda and DCA HQ.
- Staying on top of innovation in the humanitarian sector and sharing this knowledge broadly with in DCA. This involves capacity building of DCA colleagues and partners.
- Ensuring close cooperation and exchange of information among relevant partners and stakeholder, other INGOs and fellow members of the ACT Alliance.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Min 5 years’ experience from a similar INGO position in nexus and humanitarian response work .
- A university degree in humanitarian response or other related discipline.
- Knowledge and work experience in a nexus context within the areas of cash distribution, environment and energy and livelihood.
- Knowledge of Sphere Standards and Core Humanitarian Standard.
- Extensive experience with grants management in a humanitarian context.
- Experience with mainstreaming protection, gender equality and youth; all with a human rights rights-based approach.
- Experience with digital and innovative mobile monitoring technology is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills, huge and relevant networks, results-oriented and proactive with good liaison and coordination skills
Additional information:
Duration of the position: The position is a one year contract with possibility of extension. Terms and conditions are according to the Staff Manual for DCA Great Lakes Regional Office.
DCA offers a salary package (salary, insurance, and pension) in accordance to experience and DCA Uganda HR Manual.
