The Ministry of Works and Transport invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the post of Road Inspector under the Low Cost Sealing Project. The Low Cost Sealing project aims at sealing roads using locally available appropriate materials.

Applicants should submit their application letters with three recent passport photographs, a copy of the National Identity card, curriculum vitae and certified copies of academic
documents.

Job Title: Road Inspector

Reports to: Project Engineer

No. of Vacancies: Two (2)

Employment Type: Contract

Contract duration: One year renewable subject to satisfactory performance

Job Purpose: To supervise the construction of roads

Key output

i. Construction works supervised;
ii. Weekly supervision reports produced;
iii. Quality assessment reports produced;
iv. Minutes of site meetings prepared; and
v. Work measurement sheets prepared.

Duties

i) To conduct onsite supervision of road works in progress and completed projects to ensure compliance with standards and contract specifi cations;

ii) To prepare measurement sheets for works executed by the contractor;

iii) To record minutes of site meetings and keep site records;

iv) To prepare weekly progress reports notify contractor of any required corrections or necessary clean up;

v) To work with contractor on testing of compaction, density or pound testing to ensure prescribed wearing course/base/sub-base contents;

vi) To ensure implementation of instructions issued to contractors;

vii) To gather fi eld data for a variety of engineering uses in planning;

viii) To train contract workers as needed on the project assigned; and

ix) To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors from time to time.

Person Minimum Specifications

Applicants should be Ugandans by nationality with;

i) At least an ordinary Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution;

ii) Three (3) years relevant working experience from a reputable organization; and

iii) Must have knowledge in computer applications.

Project management; Time management; Records and information management; and concern for quality and standards.
