Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is a National Non-Government Organization which was founded in 1986 by Ugandan mothers committed to support and care for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). Its vision is to have “Healthy Children living in a peaceful world of Opportunity “and mission is “Shriving to improve the quality of life of vulnerable children and youth for them to survive and thrive.” USAID Orphans and Vulnerable Children North East Activity UWESO Staff Recruitment


The USAID Orphans and Vulnerable Children – North East Region (OVC North East) Activity is a fiveyear Activity to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in selected districts of Uganda. The strategic objective supports Government of Uganda’s (GOU) multi- sector strategies and priorities for HIV mitigation and prevention, with an emphasis on minimizing negative impacts of HIV on OVC and AGYW, addressing social, behavioral and structural drivers of HIV, and improving access to comprehensive sexual reproductive health (SRH) services to prevent new infections. Subject to availability of funds, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) intends to provide approximately $9,901,234 in total life of activity funding to implement this activity.

UWESO is a Prime partner in supporting the USAID OVC North East Activity programming in the Eastern Uganda zone, delivering integrated programming to vulnerable families, 90% of whom we expect to be children or adolescents living with HIV across the 6 districts supported by UWESO. The Districts include Tororo, Busia, Mbale, Kotido, Soroti and Katakwi. In specific districts we will also be delivering community Prevention programming primary to adolescent girls aged 9-14 years old.
