Windle International Uganda (WIU) formerly Windle Trust Uganda is a registered INGO whose mission is to promote peace and development in communities through provision and coordination of Education and training for Refugees and people affected by conflict.
Windle International Uganda is the lead partner of UNHCR in implementing Education Projects in Uganda with close collaboration with the Government of Uganda through the Office of the Prime Minister. With funding from UNHCR, WIU seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person for the following position:
POSITION: Laboratory Assistant
REPORTS TO: Head Teacher
LOCATION: Adjumani Refugee Settlement

The Laboratory Assistant will help to oversee the preparation of practical lessons on day to day basis and provide technical guidance during the practical
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare samples/Specimens for practical lessons.
- Keep and store equipment, apparatus and chemicals used in the laboratory.
- Keep record of laboratory apparatus and equipment.
- Ensure safety in the laboratory.
- Provide administrative assistance during practical lessons in the laboratory.
- Maintain work area clean and equipment.
- Open and close the laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, PERSON SPECIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Certificate in Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
Ordinary level of study (O’ level), with at least 3 passes in the science subjects.
Proven integrity
Excellent teaching skills
Independent decision making skills
Excellent Oral and written English communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work with minimal or no supervision
Mature; Commitment and understanding of the Organization’s core values and Education ethics
