General Summary
Uganda Academy for Health innovations and Impact is an innovation Hub within IDI. We have received funding from UNCDF to pilot a would like to test an alternative method for delivering COVID-19 samples using medical drones in West Nile region. To this end, the academy plans to hire a laboratory technologist/technician with research experience to support this project.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall support to the project team and sub-contractors in West Nile region
- Liaise with district authorities and health centre in charges on this project
- Support communication with a wider group of stakeholders in the region
- Support sensitization of medical staff around this project
- Communicate with other project staff including Kalangala Drones team
- Ensuring all QAQC procedures are followed for delivery of samples by drone
- Support sub-study on stability of samples delivered by drone
- Support flying team to monitoring and servicing transport containers used by drone
- To collect economic and time/motion data on all forms of sample transport
- To complete monthly reports for Academy and funders
- To prepare workplans for project activities
- To liaise with laboratory staff in health facilities in region
Person Specification
- A Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory technology.
- Full and active registration with the allied Health Professionals council.
- Up to date knowledge of current national COVID-19 protocols.
- Good communication, coordination, organization, mentorship and management skills.
- Understands client confidentiality and exhibits high level of ethical conduct.
- Computer literacy including word processing, excel, internet and power point.
- Experience with research projects
- Good understanding of public health systems and local government policies.
- Experience of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) would also be an advantage.
