Our client, a Ugandan NGO whose goal is to provide long term sustained funding for biodiversity conservation and environmental management is currently seeking applications from very dynamic self – driven professionals to join its team. The organization has an established valued niche in Conservation Financing which consists of:

  • Development & Promotion of Cutting edge conservation initiatives
  • Managing grants on behalf of donors
  • Establishment of Payment for Environmental Services Schemes
  • Building Public-Private partnerships and Land Trusts

Key Basic Functions:

S/he will be responsible for the overall financial administration, budgeting, reporting, and business performance analysis in accordance with the business and operational objectives of the organization, ensuring that the key performance indicators are consistently met in accordance with the business and operational objectives of the organization. The key result areas for the Management Accountant include:

1. Prepare the monthly, quarterly and annual budgets for the organization and ensure that individual revenue and cost centers have all necessary information for effective budget management

2. Monitor budget performance in accordance with Key Performance Indicators of the organizations’ operations

3.Conduct analyses and provide necessary information to management used in taking both long term and short term decisions

4. Prepare donor reports as well as any other reports required for routine financial and operational decision making

5. Liaise with the senior management to organize and conduct training of grantees and other project beneficiaries in financial management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce/BBA degree Must have completed CPA/or ACCA & Training in project planning and management, Mission directed, visionary, proactive with a good sense of judgment/discernment
  • High level of integrity.
  • At least three years’ experience preferably with an NGO.
  • Experience in donor funding and grants management, as well as knowledge in investment modeling, financial analysis, and risk analysis, is a requirement.

Other Requirements & Personal Attributes:        

  • Computer skills and knowledge of the use of accounting software e.g. Quick books
  • Cash flow development, Budget development, Investment management
  • Interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, and reporting /proposal writing skills, strategic planning
  • Be adaptable and able to meet deadlines on assignments, juggle multiple demands and to work with all levels within the institution
  • Strong skills in influencing, relationship building and problem-solving
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented but able to quickly grasp the big picture
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and good moral character
