Job Purpose

The Management Trainee – Infrastructure Support Engineer shall provide support to the teams participating in the implementation cycle of IT Infrastructure Projects with specificity on Network Extension, Last Mile Connectivity and growth of backhaul Networks by participating in Survey of works, inspection of ongoing works and participating in the Acceptance of completed works.

Key Accountabilities

1. Participate in Monitoring and Evaluation of NITA – U Infrastructure in order to regularly undertake scheduled periodic Assessment on the health of NITA – U IT Infrastructure;

2. Supervision of the installation of Optical Fibre Cables, Optical Switching Network and Other Civil works required in the extension of backhaul networks, last mile extensions and repairs and relocations on existing Infrastructure;

3. Provision of technical support to other public and private sector agencies undertaking IT Infrastructure Projects to promote high quality, cost effective and timely outputs of the projects and support the project design and development;

4. Perform any other duties, which may be assigned from time to time.

Position Requirements

Education (Level of Education and Qualifications)

– Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Engineering; Experience (Specific type of experience required)

– One year’s Experience in the design, implementation and management of WAN/LAN Networks in a large enterprise.

Technical Expertise (Job specific competencies, experience and skills)

– Knowledge in Deployment of Next Generation Networks, Last Mile Connectivity, NGN technology, Optical Switching Technology, SDH, DWDM, Wireless Technologies and related technologies.
