REPORTING TO: Head- Product Development and Innovation
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Head- Product Development and Innovation, the role holder will be responsible for leading the Innovation team in its drive to support the transformation agenda of dfcu Bank towards a modern digitised bank with leadership in operational excellence and customer experience.
The role holder will also ensure that Innovation is inward-looking to see how we can deliver better as an organisation through process efficiencies and adoption of new technologies, fintech partnerships and propose bank transformation improvements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Drive the Innovations transformation agenda of the bank to reach its strategic aspirations.
- Use modern techniques such as LEAN, AI, Robotics, Machine Learning etc to create more customer value without increasing resources.
- Use big data to promote Business insights and innovation.
- Identify improvement opportunities that leverage existing applications, technology, processes to create lean, efficient processes and create value to customers without additional funding or vendor engagement.
- Prioritize and recommend innovation ideas/projects to implement after sizing of the initiatives to establish impact to business growth versus the cost of delivery.
- Lead the identification and development of innovative and emerging technologies to solve customer needs.
- Benchmark or carryout research on innovative ideas to solving real consumer (Internal & External) needs with a focus on both the short-term and long-term product roadmap.
- Build and develop fintech relationships and develop strategic partnerships with those who share our aspirations.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Computing, Commerce, Accounting or Business Statistics or another related field.
- Adept at Financial Technology & Innovation.
- Clear expertise at carrying an innovation from the ideation to deployment stage.
- A professional qualification in banking e.g. ACIB and Project Management (e.g. Prince II would be added advantage).
- Ability to prepare product papers / Business cases.
- At least 6 years’ work experience, 3 of which should be a leadership role as a senior Technology, Digital Innovation or Product Development Resource at a financial services/technology delivery institution.
- Demonstrate experience in driving innovation and the change agenda in Financial Services.
- Demonstrate ability to link and apply complex technologies to business strategies & a high proficiency in Information and Communication Technology.
- Strong skills in product analysis, business process analysis and redesign.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, FinTech, or product development trends.
- Strong skills in project management and project execution is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with the financial services industry in Uganda and the region.
- Strong understanding and experience of digital transformation with demonstrated success in this field.
- Excellent communications and engagement skills.
- Strong attention to detail and personal effectiveness.
- High-level of integrity, work ethic and strong entrepreneurial skills.
- Strong skills at relationship building.
- Self-drive and initiative.
- Strong leader with soft-power skills.
