As a business we are structured into Demand and Supply functions. The Supply business is composed of Source, Plan, Make and Move sections supported by the governance and manufacturing Excellence teams. Supply is responsible for the overall planning, sourcing, production and warehousing of finished product. The Demand business is involved in marketing and selling the product through RTM partners and retailers to consumers supported by HR, CR & Legal and Finance as enablers

Drive controls agenda in supply finance in the areas of both process and system controls to deliver compliance in the key areas of Inventory management, engineering spares, Agriculture, logistics & warehousing

Reports To: Supply Finance Manager

Market Complexity
Uganda operates within a complex and challenging environment with increasing levels of competition both in alcohol and from substitute consumer goods categories, as well as tightening legislation and increasing cost of goods sold. This call for more accurate reporting on COGS and proper management of working capital in order to provide a competitive edge for the business.
Leadership Responsibilities
This role has a dotted line supervision of the stock accountant and will work closely with and engage with the wider supply finance Team to ensure manufacturing decisions are made with a full understanding of the financial implications.
Top Accountabilities
1. Inventory Management
Drive the execution and realisation of business strategy in inventory management and process control Manage the entire inventory ledger through tracking, reporting, and verification and reconciliation process. Support plant engineering team with all repairs and maintenance activities. Oversight of the Agriculture stock accountant activities and signoff of reconciliations Drive and support all make in all finance related activities. Drive and support Move in all finance related activities. Support business system related activities.
2. Overall COGs Management
Support the business on its continued drive to reduce COGs/EU (Brand value enhancement & material optimisation) Work with operations and maintenance department personnel to understand cost impacts of operations, work on implementing corrective action plans to improve cost performance, investigate data and operational inconsistencies, prepare and analyse monthly financial and operational reports. Provide financial decision support to the business for adhoc projects and initiatives. Work closely with the logistics to implement drive out cost initiatives to ensure that set out targets are met.
3. Systems controls and Reporting
Drive a robust control function in supply chain function and ensure closure of identified control lapses. Support finance processes end to end as well as good understanding of SAP processes to drive compliance in supply chain system process and support new products system set ups. To compile, maintain, and provide timely, relevant, and accurate financial performance data to Operations Team, cost improvement team, and other departments as needed. Monthly accounting close process (including Material Ledger, maintenance costs & distribution costs), prepare and update monthly reports, and track performance against projections. Ensure monthly & daily stock reconciliations are prepared and circulated. Any variances highlighted should have a clear action for resolution. Ensure adequate preparations and resourcing for a successful month/year end stock-take process. Review stock take files and compare losses vs plan. Ensure adequate explanations for the variances. Monitor stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provisioning. Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure accurate reporting and tracking of distribution costs. Follow up on DHL warehouse & transit breakages for timely recovery as well as monitor stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provisioning. Follow up with shared services centre to ensure that key vendor reconciliations for logistics, planning and maintenance are being done and old reconciling items are appropriately resolved.
Qualifications , Experience and Skills Required
Qualifications:

Graduate qualified accountant or a degree preferably in business field; MBA would be an added advantage.

Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
Experience

SAP knowledge in Manufacturing, PTP, and OTC

Sound stakeholder management skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge a team to deliver results

Experience of working with staff at all levels in an organization

Knowledge of the key aspects of a finance function, including financial accounting and reporting requirements.

Extensive knowledge of Excel

Demonstrate understanding of accounting principles and policies and how they can be applied to optimize performance and control risk
