The LWF Uganda Program is looking for qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position;

Job Title:                   Project Assistant – WASH.

No. of Positions:      One (01).

Duty Station:            Lamwo

Reports to:                Project Officer – WASH.

Starting Date:           ASAP

Duration of Contract: 1-year contract (with the possibility of extension).

Closing Date for Applications: 01st June, 2022.

 

Job Summary:  Under the guidance of the Hygiene and Sanitation Officer the Project Assistant is responsible for:

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Implementation of WASH activities

Train and sensitize community leaders, people of concern (PoCs) and neighboring host communities on the operation and maintenance of WASH facilities

Engage in the training and sensitization of the PoCs and host communities on healthy sanitation and hygiene practices.

Carry out water quality surveillance in and around PoC settlement

Compile list of PSN beneficiaries for wash items

Sensitize water users on safe water chain

Keep up to date list of water user committees and members

On quarterly basis, compile/update list of households in the village

Facilitate formation, activation and training of water user committees

Participate in the training of school health club members

Site HH latrines for construction

Facilitates hygiene education sessions at water point and at block level.

Carry out sanitary risk assessment at water points

Monitor public health aspects of latrines and shelter construction

Representation and stakeholder management

In partnership with market management committees, organize quarterly clean up Champaign in public places

Participate in field-level coordination meetings

Participate in communicable diseases surveillance

Internal reporting

Compile and submit periodic wash field activities reports

Collect and compile on regular basis field data on wash project activities.

Team management

Provide technical guidance to hygiene promoters, water user committees, waste management committees, and community leaders

Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Other:

Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Technical Competences:

Diploma or University Degree in Environment Health Science, Public Health, Social Sciences from a recognized Institution, Post Graduate training in Project Planning and Management and Sound knowledge of Financial Management is an added, At least 2 years’ experience in Community WASH programming, Proven knowledge, and experience in developing and implementing community WASH mobilization projects. Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and make decisions independently, Excellent English Language (both written and spoken) and Must possess a valid riding permit.
