Nature Uganda together with partners (Uganda Biodiversity Fund, Wildlife Conservation Society and Ecological Christian Society is implementing a project “Restoring and conserving the degraded fragile ecosystems for improved community livelihoods among the refugee and Host communities of West Nile Region and the Mid-Albertine Rift”, targeting the refugee host communities in districts of Terego and Yumbe in West Nile region; and Kikube, Kyegegwa, and Kamwenge in the Mid Albertine region.

Nature Uganda is seeking Project Assistants that will support the Project Officer to implementing successfully all aspects of the project including; community mobilisation for restoration activities in wetlands and selected woodland ecosystems, participatory forest or wetland management, empowering local civil society groups to engage in rights based advocacy and supporting livelihood improvement initiatives for participating communities. He or She will be responsible for ensuring close linkage and working relationship with all stakeholders; local communities including Community associations, the Local Governments in the programme areas as well as other partner NGOs and organizations in project landscapes.

Special requirements

 The applicant should have a minimum of a Certificate/ Diploma in Education, social work, natural resources management, tourism or community Development

 A degree in community development, natural resources management, social work, or any other relevant subject in community development and natural resources management is an added advantage

 Experience working with community, extension and mobilisation skills, experience of working at remote locations essential.

 Should have good working knowledge of the project area selected

 Should be willing and ready to live in the respective project area

 Ability to write reports and meet strict deadlines.

 Self-motivated, with ability to work under limited supervision, strong commitment to nature conservation.

 Knowledge and experience in NGO work, community work, and or working with district authorities.

 Basic knowledge in the use of computers or smartphones, and other data collecting tools/ gargents.

 Fluent and excellent verbal and written proficiency in English and at least one local language widely used in project area.
