Are you ready to be a midwife educator? Seed Global Health places midwife educators in year-long positions with our partner academic and health institutions in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia.
Midwife educators work closely with students, clinicians, faculty, and Seed staff to strengthen midwifery education, enhance clinical practice through mentorship and training, and advocate for midwifery policies locally and globally.
General Requirements
- Availability for approximately 12 months
- Experience working with populations in resource limited areas
- Teaching experience in classroom, simulation and/or clinical settings
- Active valid medical, nursing, and/or midwifery licensure (or equivalent form of official registration to practice)
- Meet in-country work permit and licensing criteria
- Proficient in English

Pay & Leave
Educators receive a monthly salary. Educators are eligible for a minimum of 4 weeks paid leave. Educators are eligible for a readjustment allowance post-service.
Completion Award
Each educator who complete a full year of service in good standing will be recognized as an honorary Massachusetts General Hospital Fellow in Global Clinical Education.
Housing & Travel
Housing that meets our minimum safety and amenity standards is provided for educators by Seed or partner institutions. There may be occasional situations where housing is shared and some educators may live directly on the premises of the placement site. Seed handles all travel logistics to and from the country of placement.
Insurance
Comprehensive medical and dental insurance. Medical and security assistance and evacuation insurance. Malpractice insurance while in country. Workers compensation insurance.
Visa/Work Permit
Seed will sponsor and guide you in submitting documentation to acquire the appropriate visas, work permits, and licenses to legally fulfill your duties in your placement country.
Application Process
Submit Online Application
Applications for annual educator positions will open on August 1 and close on November 1 [11:59PM PST]. Completed applications and supporting documents will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Initial Interview
Candidates whose qualifications best meet placement needs will be invited for an initial video or phone interview with Seed’s clinical teams.
Second Interview
Short-listed candidates will be matched to the country and partner site(s) that best aligns with their skill set. They will have a second interview with Seed’s country teams and when applicable, a representative from their potential placement site.
Selection
Successful candidates will be notified and receive an offer for placement as a Seed Educator on a rolling basis. All candidates will be notified of selection by mid-December. (If the review process for any position is extended, we will let affected applicants know and provide a new notification timeline.)
Orientation and Departure to Placement Country
Educators attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation before leaving for their placement country. Upon arrival in-country, educators participate in a mandatory orientation before traveling to their placement site.
