Job Description

This role is responsible for the successful execution of the data management process in the organization, including field survey, design and maintenance of data collection and management tools, database refinement, quality checks and data integrity protocols. As part of the PEAL leadership team, the incumbent provides supervisory support to staff and field contractors, contributing to the strategic thinking, planning and coordination of undertakings aimed at achieving an efficient repository and results-based database system within the organization. He/she should be a strategic thinker, analytical and a team player, knowledgeable and with strong acumen for multitasking. Possession of skills in applied statistics, data management and utilization of soft wares like Alteryx, ArcGIS, STATA, SurveyCTO, Excel and GIS platforms is an added advantage

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise multi-site field survey activities, ensuring completion of data collection and management activities within timelines.
  • Guide staff on the right data collection methodologies and designs, providing detailed guidance on respective survey types and tools, mode of data collection, entry and all the other relevant and required training.
  • Support and collaborate in the design and review of various data collection and analysis tools.
  • Work with the PEAL team to ensure that data collection and aggregation training materials or manuals and guidelines are available and updated regularly.
  • With tenacity, the senior officer ensures the aggregation of data from multiple source streams creation and proper storage of master copy for further reference.
  • Take the lead in addressing data management-related queries and concerns in a timely manner while adhering to the data ethical guidelines and protocols.
  • Advise staff and stakeholders on methodological issues and promote timely reporting of data according to agreed standards.
  • Conduct data collection audits and routine data quality checks to ascertain and ensure data validity, reliability and safety.
  • Contribute to the development and drafting of the annual strategic plans of the PEAL team and those of the organization, supporting staff to progressively execute their roles in line with the activity critical path.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Economics, Business Computing, Mathematics, Population Studies, or related.
  • At least 2+ years of practical experience and familiarity with applied data management and practices.
  • A postgraduate qualification in M&E or related would be an added advantage.
  • Previous work experience in hard-to-reach areas is an added advantage
  • Strong facilitation and Leadership skills are required
