Role Definition:
The Station Manager will be responsible for managing routine and periodic maintenance activities of roads and bridges under the station. This will involve planning for routine and periodic maintenance activities, participation in defining procurement specifications, supervision of works, ensuring environmental and social safeguards are mainstreamed, timely progress reporting and preparation of closure report detailing the works done. The Station Manager will also be responsible for accountability of the resources at the station including human, financial, property, equipment etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and set performance benchmarks for the station in line with the strategic plan and Regional and Directorate targets;
- Plan and budget for the station activities in line with financial guidelines and strategic plan;
- Develop a system to carry out road and bridge condition assessment in line with UNRA standards and strategic plan;
- Plan and implement effective systems for the management of Force Account activities in the area covered by the station in line with UNRA strategic plan and guidelines;
- Manage the overall administrative and supervision function of the station in line with the Corporate Services guidelines;
- Develop and implement systems for the effective supervision of routine and periodic maintenance activities in the area covered by the station in line with the UNRA strategic plan;
- Risk management and management of audit results on regional maintenance activities in line with the strategic plan;
- Manage performance and develop direct reports in line with the performance management system of UNRA.

Required Academic Qualifications:
- An Honors Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering or;
- A Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering from a recognized institution with a Master’s Degree in a relevant field;
- For those with a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree in a related field and other post graduate qualifications in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering or other relevant field will be an added advantage;
- Professional registration with the Professional Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or its equivalent in the Commonwealth countries is a must;
- Computer literacy is a must.
Experience and Knowledge:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in roads and bridges construction and maintenance;
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management of major construction works;
- Demonstrated working experience in managing diverse professionals.
