Makerere University –Johns Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration conducts clinical and translational research with a focus on HIV, TB and other conditions which affect the health and well-being of children, adolescents, women and their families. MUJHU was founded in 1988 as a collaboration between researchers from Makerere University and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA at a time when the AIDS epidemic was at its peak in Uganda, with an initial mission to improve the lives of families infected and affected by HIV through Research, Care and Training. In 2006, the MUJHU Research Collaboration was registered as a not-for-profit entity in Uganda entitled ‘MUJHU Care Limited’ with a continuation of the Collaboration’s vision and mission.

The successful person will be responsible for maintaining organization’s inventory and supplies by receiving, storing and dispatching items procured throughout the course of day-to-day operations.
Required qualifications and Experience:
Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Stores Management/Procurement or equivalent degree with at least 2 years’ experience in similar position. Managing and working through with subordinates. Should have keen attention to detail, coupled with team building and people management skills. The person should also possess strong management skills, good report writing skills, strong analytical skills and mentorship and coaching skills. Excellent communication and computer skills are also required and should be self-driven and flexible.
The holder of this position will work under the supervision of the General Administration & Services Manager with guidance from the Director Finance & Administration and will be responsible for the following duties:
- Provide overall supervision and management of stores operations including the performance of the stores team.
- Develop and maintain written procedures for all inventory control processes and functions.
- Maintain stock supplies and inventory by consistently updating a list of inventory purchased and those issued out. Maintain an organised storage area by adhering to storage design principles.
- Establish stores management systems that are functional and user friendly.
- Generate periodic activity reports in alignment with defined operational plan.
- Ensure work orders are correct and fully completed and that all stock is allocated to the right end user and check received items against invoices.
- Produce weekly reports to ensure that key critical areas of stock system are controlled, discrepancies addressed and resolved.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy in stock management processes.
- Schedule and manage stock taking exercising as required. Assist with the training and development of the stores team to promote growth and satisfaction.
