Contract Type: Full-time Internship
The Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery for Building Resilience Team (DRT) leads UNDP’s global practice on disaster risk reduction (DRR). The team provides policy guidance, technical support, and programme management to regional hubs and country offices, serving more than 100 countries to improve preparedness, recovery, and risk management systems.
This internship will focus on early warning, preparedness, and anticipatory action—a core strategic area for DRT. The selected intern will support the development of UNDP’s Preparedness Learning Pathway and Preparedness Toolkit, both corporate resources aimed at strengthening institutional disaster preparedness capacities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Knowledge Management & Resource Development

Conduct research and organise resources to expand the Preparedness Learning Pathway.

Maintain and update the online repository on UNDP’s intranet and selected open platforms.

Assist in developing new thematic modules for the Preparedness Toolkit.

Support translation of learning packages into additional languages, as required.
2. Workshop & Webinar Coordination
-
Help design and deliver country workshops, including agendas, presentations, and tools.

Prepare tailored materials for webinars such as session plans, MURAL boards, breakout resources, and follow-up reports.

Contribute to communication materials, including social media kits for events.
3. Research & Communications Support

Draft proposals, briefs, talking points, and presentations.

Provide research, analysis, and communication support for DRT’s portfolio activities.
Required Qualifications
Education
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:
-
Enrolled in a Master’s degree or final year of a Bachelor’s programme in disaster risk reduction, humanitarian affairs, climate change, communications, public relations, or related fields.

Recently graduated (within one year) from an eligible degree programme.

Enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship.
Skills & Competencies

Strong written and spoken English skills.

Experience with digital tools such as Canva, MURAL, Zoom, MS Teams, and Google Forms.

Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
-
Ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural settings.

Knowledge of online knowledge management and social media platforms is an advantage.
Internship Conditions

A monthly stipend may be provided in accordance with UNDP’s internship policy, unless supported by another institution.

Interns are required to have health insurance for the full duration of the internship.

The internship does not guarantee future employment with UNDP.

Interns are not considered UN staff and cannot represent UNDP in an official capacity.

A written evaluation will be provided at the end of the internship.
