Job Summary

Provide evidence based medical care, participate in training and conduct research in the PHO COE under supervision of the PHO faculty

Overall Responsibilities

1)      Take history, perform physical examination and initiate diagnostic work up of children in allocated PHO care areas.

2)      Assess and treat complications of cancer and/or blood diseases and their treatment in allocated PHO care areas.

3)      Preform bedside invasive procedures including bone marrow aspirate, and biopsy, lumbar puncture, intrathecal chemotherapy, and other procedures as may be instructed by PHO attending/faculty.

4)      Ensure adequate preparation of clinical activities (e.g. ward rounds) including patient medical evaluations, laboratory and diagnostic studies and any necessary equipment.

5)      Follow up, implement and ensure implementation of Clinical plans including surgical procedures, laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging and others.

6)      Liaise with research assistants, coordinators and nurses in conducting research related to PHO according to SOPs.

7)      Present case summaries and educational reviews at educational meetings in the PHO  COE including Tumor Board, Journal Club, Grand Round and others

Identify QI needs  and Design and Conduct QI Plan-To-Do Study Act (PDSA) cycles

Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
  • – Medical Degree eg MB ChB-registration as medical practitioner with Uganda Medical  and Dental Practitioners Council
  • – successful completion of medical internship
  • 3 Years Relevant Experience
